To know God is to is to achieve the goal. We have not to cover the distance to realize this goal. God is the goal of soul and God is all-pervading.Therefore, man is already at the goal, and not far from it. It is strange that one is at the goal and yet away from it! In other words, having been born as human, one be not a human. Saint Kabir has highlighted this very state: I laugh to hear a fish in water being thirsty. So is the case with man. Living in God, he does not know Him. People living in a holy city go to another holy city to realize God! It is like a fish in water searching for water to quench its thirst, because it does not know water. It is not far from water, rather it is in it. Saint Kabir says: Man is searching for the Substance elsewhere than where it is. How can he find it? He can find it only if he is accompanied by the knower. God is not confined in a particular place. We call God as all-pervading, yet not know Him and therefore consider Him to be confined in a particular place. A poet has rightly said: God is not God if He is there but not here.

The journey of life goes on and it cannot be halted even for a moment. During this span, the more we associate with the saints is better. That is why we so pray to God. Holy beings have always imbibed such thoughts and feelings. Their thoughts and feelings remain unchanged and as does God. He ever remains unchanged, and who so identifies himself with God, his feelings of goodness do not change. If the sun shone in the Golden age, it does even in the Iron Age. Change of Age does not change the Sun's function. Similarly, God is eternal. The devotees born in any Age imbibe the same traits. We are familiar with the devotion and feeling of the devotees, may he/she be Kabir, Prahlad, Tukaram, Meera bai and others. Some were born in palaces and some in humble huts. However, discharging their duties at different places, they had the same state of mind. Today, too, the devotees, having realized God have attained the same state of devotion. Holy beings wish that everyone may imbibe the devotion. No one remain ignorant but realize his true self. This task needs to be accomplished by all.
