The world lacks peace. There is much talk of peace but peace is not being established, rather unrest is being spread. There is a hue and cry all around. Peace is essential for turning the earth into a heaven and peace can be established if the mind imbibes sublime thoughts and is enlightened. Where there is peace, there is heaven. Thus peace is essential to establish a heaven on the earth. And man can imbibe peace when his mind is in tune with God, the source of peace. When the mind is in communion with God, we imbibe love and enjoy peace. As a lighted lamp spreads light, a peaceful mind spreads peace. So much importance has been given to peace. Mahatma Gandhi once said: There is no other way; peace is the way. Unfortunately at every step, man is spreading unrest. When man is delinked God, the reservoir of peace, his link with peace is also snapped. To enjoy peace, it is essential that he re-establishes his link with God. The link with God is important.

The soul which has realized God is liberated and another which merely sings the glory of God cannot be liberated from the bondage of birth and death. Holy beings therefore have repeatedly exhorted man to realize God and be redeemed. One can be redeemed only on realizing God. This fact is supported by the scriptures. Unfortunately, man does not heed and understand it. He feels content with mere recitation of the scriptures. But what is important is to know God whom one praises. It is good to read and recite the scriptures and glorify God and the Holy Masters. But more than this, one has also to realize God to attain redemption. If one talks about water but does not drink or talks about a stream but does not take a bath in it, what will he gain? Talking of water or of stream is all right but to quench one's thirst, one has to drink water and to enjoy coolness one has to bathe in the stream. Similarly, people remember God by several names but the question is whether they have known and realized God. The one who has realized God is freed of misconceptions and liberated from the birth-death cycle. That is why importance has been given to God-realization.
