We Must Attain the Light Of Knowledge
There was a time when it was believed that earth was flat. This belief had persisted for generations. However, one day someone sighted a ship approaching and saw a part of its sail. A little later, he saw more of its sail. As the ship moved closer, still more of it was seen. Then the entire ship could be seen. At this the person realised that the earth could not be flat but round. When he declared this, the people hounded him and beat him. Some even called for burning him alive. Finally, it was found that he was right: the earth is indeed round. Similarly, people continue to suffer from the ignorance of reality. The devotees exhort: Attain the light of knowledge and get rid of the misconceptions. The moment the truth is attained or realised, the misconceptions are dispelled. Saint Kabir and Saint Bulleh Shah too declared that they had realised the Truth and thereby their misconceptions had been dispelled. It has been the message of every holy being that everyone may attain the light and live up to it.
The Thread Of Love Has To Be Strengthened
Holy beings assert that, on the one hand, we are in 21st century, on the other, we are degrading: how much violence and hatred are prevailing. Is it progress? Such condition is aptly described by a poet thus : The ancient culture has been forsaken and the neighbour has burnt down the house of his neighbour. In the ancient culture neighbours used to regard each other as members of one family, but conditions have so changed and religion has so poisoned our mind that we have turned enemies of one another. As the saying goes: There was a time when the houses were Kachcha (made of mud) but homes were Pucca ( made of love), Now the houses are Pucca (made of bricks and morter) but homes are Kachacha (made of mud). The thread of love in our relations has snapped. A thread, if repeatedly pulled, is weakened and snaps: Rahiman, do not snap the thread of love. A broken one cannot be rejoined without knotting. The thread of love has to be strengthened, May love dwell in the mind. If it dwells in every mind, a home will turn into a heaven.
