A mother always advises her son to offer prayer and do
simran before going to bed. Everyday, she reminds her son at night that the day got over and he should offer
prayers before sleeping. After few days, she asked her son why he needs to be reminded every day and why doesn't
he do it on his own. She further told the son that God had blessed him with so many comforts and resources. If he
would look around, he would find that not many children were so lucky. Yet, these children do regular simran. She
told her son that he had all the more reasons to properly pray before God to express his gratitude. In reply, the
child said: 'yes, you are right, mother'. Other children ought to make prayer to God so that the comforts that I
enjoy may also become available to them. Whereas I have everything, why should I pray? The mother had to explain
him that by nature a saint keeps expressing his gratitude to God for every situation - whether they have material
possessions or not. Even if they lose the material comforts which they were enjoying, even then they remain in the
same state of mind. They keep on praying that whatever God has granted to them, it is for their welfare.
A child believes that the food prepared by his mother is
always tasty. When he calls his school Mates to join him over food, he does not feel the need to taste it before
offering it to his friends. He tells his friends with confidence that it is the food prepared by his mother and
that it has got to be good to make the friends feel happy. He has so much of faith that even without tasting, he
speaks these words with complete determination. After it actually proved to be right, the boy is proud and happy
that he was proved right. Similarly, let us ensure that whenever we talk of faith, it is always accompanied by a
feeling of complete surrender - both running parallel to each other.
