Devotees Are Like A Cow
If a drunkard strikes against an electric pole, he showers abuses on the municipal corporation. The fact is that ' drinking' is the cause of his troubles, but he blames others. Similarly, when himself at fault, man blames others, is bitter against others and stings others. Such a person is like a snake which drinks milk but spews poison. On the other hand saints and devotees are like a cow which eats dry grass but gives milk. This is the difference between humanism and demonism, between a saint and a sinner between a God realized and an unrealized person. If man uses God- gifted wisdom and imbibes saintly traits he can sublimate the world and earn glory.
Deepawali
Deepawali is the festival of lights and light symbolises Truth. As already stated, one lit lamp lights another unlit one. In this way , the number of lit lamps increases. The series of lit lamps in itself is a grand spectacle, which also dispels darkness and lights the path of the wayfares. Thus even a single lit lamp contributes a lot. Similarly a spiritually enlightened devotee symbolises human values such as love, humility and effections; may he be a hut dweller, he is a boon for the earth. An extinguished lamp even in a palace is a curse, while a lit one , even in a cottage is a boon, may it be made of clay or gold. Whereas a lit one, even made of clay, is useful and can save us from stumbling. What is meant that we are concerened whether a lamp is lit or unlit, irrespective of the material of which it is made. Significance lies in whether a lamp is lit or otherwise. In the prevailing darkness, people are groping, stumbling and suffering from misconceptions and thus causing harm to themselves and others. In such circumstances, significance lies in being lit [enlightened].
