Selfless Devotion Sans Ego
Selfless Devotion sans Ego: Once, a person went to a place of worship and installed some fans. Many people praised him, but some didn't. So now, his ego stealthily infiltrates his inner self and he gets worried that no one is thanking him for the fans that he has installed. Then he gets his name written on all three blades of the fans so that if someone sees it, they will know that he has installed these fans and if not for him, they would have kept feeling the heat. The next time he visits, he sees that the fans' speed is so high that his name is not even readable, and still, his contribution is not being acknowledged. So, he asks to shut down the fans so that when everyone looks up due to the heat, they will know who installed the fans. If God has chosen us for Sewa, we should serve with a spirit of surrender, not out of a desire to be known for it. To maintain mental peace, our minds should always be surrendered to the Divine.
Stay Connected, Stay Effortless
The deeper our relationship with the Divine, the more effortlessly and naturally all our worldly tasks and responsibilities will be fulfilled. We often perceive responsibilities as burdens upon ourselves, forgetting that these duties and our families are blessings from the Divine. When we detach them from the Divine, it brings mental stress, as we start to burden ourselves unnecessarily. Surrendered devotees exhibit patience and equanimity. They remain calm & composed in the face of any worldly situation, not allowing their minds to be disturbed, staying patient and accepting the will of the Divine. Devotees keep their minds connected to the Divine, residing in a state of bliss.
