Devotees Always surrender To God’s Will
Let us not be superstitious as to which day or direction is auspicious or inauspicious: all days and directions are created by God. Obviously, we even regard God as partly auspicious and partly inauspicious. This is how the ignorant and not the enlightened think. Birth and death are in God’s hand. There is saying: ‘If we fear death we may avoid living, but cannot avoid death.’ Death shall come when it comes. However, due to the fear of death, we give up hope for living. Such life is no life. Birth and death are in the hand of God and so is the cause, time and day of death. It is said: ‘Death is the arrow which is in flight and the moment it reaches me I die.’ In other words,‘from the very moment of birth, my death started its walk and it is walking towards me without hurry.’ That is to say, when one is born, one must die. Life is like a coin with birth and death as its sides. Superstitious people create in us superstitions, and misconceptions, and due to fear we nurture the same. The devotees always surrender to God’s will and not succumb to greed; remain contented and imbibe the sense of gratitude. A contented person is really rich. The devotees are contented and therefore rich.
God Is Near and Not Far
Holy beings teach man to realize his real self or God who is near and not far. A poet has aptly said: Strange is the distance of proximity. He is near but I have never met Him! Lord Krishna revealed God to Arjuna in the battlefield of kurukshetra. It is not that God existed only there and nowhere else. Where Arjuna was born and brought up, God was there but distant in the sense that the former did not know him. Meera Bai was pining for God-vision but could realize Him only when she sought the grace of Guru Ravidas. It is not that God was where the Guru dwelt and not not where she resided. God is all pervading and omnipresent. It is a fact that God was near but far because He was not known by Meera. When one attains God-knowledge, all one’s misconceptions are dispelled. The light shining through bulbs and tubes emanate from the same power of energy. Similarly, the same soul dwells in all souls. When one has the realization, all differences vanishes.
