Saints Always Keep Their Mind Focused On The Lord
In villages we often see women going out to fetch water from a well or a pond. They bring water in pitchers placed on their heads. While backing back home, they make body movements- they walk, they talk and listen to each other but their entire concentration is on water to ensure that it does not spill. It is not that in order to prevent water from spilling, they will stop moving about or stop talking. Saint Kabir says that they shall have to move about that too sometimes on uneven surface. They talk, and listen to each other but maintain their balance in such a way that water does not spill out of the pitcher. So Saint Kabir says that it would never happen that all the circumstances around you would become conductive and favourable but saints always keep their mind focused on the Lord, whatever might be the circumstances and they attain spontaneity. God is spontaneous and He retains the spontaneity and those who focus their mind on Him, they too attain spontaneity. That is why saints have always connected their mind to God and made Him the basis of their lives and that provided spontaneity/stability to their minds.
God Is Above Everyone
When wood is cut with a saw, a lot of wood powder comes out. If one begins to think that the wood powder is coming out from the saw, how unwise it would be. Saw is only the medium. Wood powder is already present in the wood. The devotee understands that all this activity in the universe is because of the all pervading God. We are only doing our duties and performing actions. All the achievements in life are due to Almighty God. With these kind of feelings in heart, saints keep themselves associated with the Lord Almighty and remain detached from the world. This way one also remains aloof from the feeling of doership. When one has understood the reality that all achievements in life are because of the Lord; he is the cause and the provider, we are only performing actions, then the feeling of doership does not arise. We are not gripped by the ego of being the doer and get lost in it. Rather, we lead the life with the realization that God is above everyone. This way the feeling of non-doership gets strengthened and it saves one from all the maladies which result from ego.
