Always Tread The Path Of Humanism
Earlier a house bore the motto: "Welcome" but it has been replaced by "Beware of dogs". Formerly it was a welcome and now it is warning. Such is our thinking. The greatest tragedy is not that man's life comes to an end but the tragedy is that he has forgotten love. The tragedy is that we live without loving. We are losing each other. We have to change our thinking and tread the path of humanism. We have to look upon all as humans, individually and collectively. If we think in a way which ensures benefit and redemption, turning the earth into heaven, universal peace and happiness will prevail all around. Today violence and atrocities are rampant. But when we think rightly, the tendency to cause harm changes into doing good to others. If we live in the light of Truth, we can contribute to peace and harmony.
We Should See With The Perception Of The Satguru
A devotee perceives with the eyes and hears with the ears of the Satguru i.e. with the perception of the Satguru. In other words, a devotee should see and hear the way the Satguru does, that is, with equable vision. Importance should be given to the spirit and not to the words. When the Satguru listens, he does not pay attention to the words but to the intention of the devotee. If the devotee also gives importance to the spirit, he imbibes the spirit of Satguru. The Satguru blesses the devotee with the God-Knowledge that he himself possesses. Therefore, the devotee should also imbibe the spirit of the Satguru. The Satguru perceives with the vision of God-Knowledge without any discrimination and equally respects all, rich and poor, dwellers of cottages or castles. If a devotee also imbibes the same spirit, he will be revered like the Satguru and honored by all. But some devotee do not attain such a state because they neither see with the eyes of the Satguru nor hear with the ears of the Satguru. The spirit behind the words of Baba Avtar Singh ji in the Avtar Vani is that we should see with the perception of the Satguru.
